FAQs

Here are some common questions we receive about our services.  If you have additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • How do I get started?
    Email or use the 'contact us' link with a message, then we'll schedule a consultation to discuss your targets, current activity and any health issues. This will help me to create a customised plan especially for you.
  • What should I bring to my first session?
    Please bring comfortable clothes, a water bottle, information of medical conditions which could be affected by training, inhalers or other medication which you may need.
  • What if I have a medical condition or injury?
    There are certain medical conditions which mean that you would be signposted to other services, but most conditions will be improved by starting a training and nutrition programme. With some medical conditions, your doctor may provide a note to say it's okay to start an increase in physical activity. If you're not sure about your condition, let us know and we'll discuss it in advance. Please bring along inhalers or any other medication which you may need within your session. We'll try to make your session as safe as possible by choosing appropriate exercises and their order to be performed. We can also adapt exercises by using similar variations whilst you recover from an injury.
  • Do I need any prior experience?
    Absolutely not. Many people feel a bit nervous about going to a gym for the first time, but every regular was a beginner once! Besides, Boulder UK has a quiet, friendly atmosphere - it's not the kind of place you'll feel judged, as there are people of all shapes, sizes, ages and ability levels. If you prefer, we can do outdoor sessions or home gym sessions if you have some space and equipment where you'd feel more comfortable.
  • Can you help if my goal is just weight loss?
    Yes. Through a combination of training and nutrition advice, we can get you losing fat in a healthy way, so you're more likely to keep it off. We'll give you the information you need to make your own choices and still be able to have treats. If you would like to opt for a nutrition programme only, without the workouts, that's certainly an option. You will receive some basic physical activity advice within this too, which you can work on in your own time.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    We require 24 hours notice if you would like to cancel one of your sessions. If you can't make a session but you can let us know with more than 24 hours notice, we can rearrange it for another time. With less than 24 hours notice, we would deduct one session from what you have paid for. This is to respect our PT's time and allow us the chance to accomodate other clients.
  • Do you do online sessions?
    Not as standard, but it could be arranged if that suits you; contact us to discuss further.
  • How many sessions will I need?
    This will depend on your specific goal. Typically, if you are new to training, you will see some good results within a few weeks. The more conditioned you are, the longer it takes to see further progress. Our programmes can help you get into good habits and give you the knowledge to do your workouts safely and effectively, but this doesn't mean you'll keep doing the same workouts, repeatedly, forever. Your personalised programme can be periodised, so if you have a long term goal, you will go through 'cycles' of different kinds of training in order to keep getting the best improvements which you're looking for. We're here for motivation and to keep you accountable too, so even when you get to a stage where you've reached your targets, we can set new ones or keep you on track to maintain your great results.
